Our Competition Teams at Kennesaw State – create a safe space to encourage passion, skill, and camaraderie for exceptional competition opportunities. Our diverse teams and associations cater to a wide range of interests and talents, offering students the chance to engage in spirited competition, skill development, and collaborative environments. Through these dynamic groups, students can immerse themselves in hands-on learning, forge lasting connections, and showcase their abilities on local, national, and even international stages.

  • The Aerial Robotics Team is a student organization on campus that is open to all majors. Our main goals are to collectively build an autonomous flying robot that can interact and operate within random environments, and build a remote-controlled plane to carry heavy payloads. Our long-term goal is to compete in the AUVSI-hosted International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aero Design Competition held annually.

  • The ASCE Student Chapter at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ seeks to provide students with the opportunity to learn more about the civil engineering profession. We strive to connect you, as students with the outside community of engineers, as well as create an environment to get to know your peers. Through ASCE, you have the opportunity to participate in the ASCE Southeastern Conference competitions (Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, and Minor Competitions in a variety of areas); competitions are a major aspect of what we do and are a great way to learn about civil engineering and make connections in the community. 

  • ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Canoe Team.
    The Concrete Canoe Competition team has been competing since 1988. The competition is broken into 5 parts: Canoe & Display Design, Presentation, Design Paper, Engineer's Notebook (Technical Handbook on the canoe), and racing. Each part of the competition is judged separately and comes together for an overall score for the team. Not only is it a great learning experience, but you get to work with other students building relationships, opening doors for job opportunities, and having a good time.

  • Guided by our core principles of Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility, Georgia Branch, AGC's mission is ". . . to be the voice of Georgia's construction industry, provide valuable member services and promote best construction practices." The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC - agcga.com) is a membership organization dedicated to furthering the ever-changing agenda of commercial construction contractors, improving job site safety, expanding the use of cutting-edge technologies and techniques

    and strengthening the dialogue between contractors and owners. Through member surveys and thorough dialogue with key AGC constituencies, the association gathers important information on the issues and priorities it should address now and gleam feedback on how best to position itself for the future.

  • ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Team.
    Founded in 2003 under the former Southern Polytechnic State University, The ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Team is an underwater robotics organization. We aim to teach engineering skills and robotics. We compete in the AUVSI Foundation’s RoboSub, an annual international competition in July. We have divisions for Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Marketing. Our members come from a variety of STEM disciplines, but we encourage anyone to join the ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ AUV Team!

  • ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ EVT is the proud evGrandPrix 2019 champion taking home four awards including the championship trophy and third place overall in the Autonomous Go-kart division in its first year of existence. We have focused on our racing ability along with our ability to tackle complex challenges like autonomous driving technology with our new autonomous division. We are determined to raise the bar this season by being new member oriented this season. For the 2019-2020 season, we will be designing a dual motor torque vectoring go-kart this year. Many of our members also take part in their own personal projects like building an electric bike, an electric skateboard, and an electric scooter. We are located in the Wilder Communication Center (T Building) and we meet regularly on Wednesdays at 8 pm, but most of the work happens whenever students have free time before or after their classes. New members are not expected to have any prior knowledge of electric vehicles. We hold classes during the fall to teach members everything they need to know in a hands-on environment.

  • ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Motorsports race car.
    ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Motorsports is an international engineering competition team that pushes motivated students to design and build a formula-style race car. Formula SAE is sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers. The program is extremely diverse and welcomes talent from all majors.  

  • Kennesaw Motorsports -Electric constructs electric racecars to compete in the Formula Student Electric competition. Members will gain competency in engineering skills required for design, manufacture, tuning, and testing of an 80kW formula-style racecar. This organization is functionally a part of Kennesaw Motorsports - FSAE and operates out of the same facilities and resources.

  • ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Mock Trial is an extra-curricular activity that gives undergraduate students the opportunity to gain a hands-on understanding of trial advocacy. Students simulate either a criminal or civil trial by acting as attorneys and witnesses in a competitive setting against other university teams throughout the United States.

  • The goal of Model NATO at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ is to educate members on the history, politics, procedures, and traditions of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. These skills will be applied to a specific NATO country and debated at a conference in Washington D.C.

  • The ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ Model United Nations team is an applied academic competition team that works on upholding United Nations values while remaining up to date with real-world events in order to effectively debate solutions at our international and domestic conferences. The team travels to one fall conference in Atlanta with one to two spring conferences where we represent our Member States with pride and precision. This club gives you the opportunity to enhance your oral and written communication abilities, also allowing for you to enrich your interpersonal skills. 

  • The ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Student Chapter is supported by a local representative, the Georgia Association of Home Builders (GAHBA), the National Association of Home Builders Student Chapters Program, and is one of the 150+ registered NAHB Student Chapters in the nation. We are advocates of the Residential Construction industry, and as a chapter, it is our job to prepare and expose our colleagues to the industry, its benefits and networks, and its vast opportunities. We compete on a national level in student competitions, serve the communities around us, create networking opportunities, and prepare our members for life after college. We strive for greatness and mold future leaders in the Residential Construction industry. The ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ NAHB Student Chapter is a diverse group that welcomes students from many different majors.

  • The Green Energy Challenge competition is intended to provide university students and faculty advisors with an engaging and fulfilling annual event that will foster meaningful interaction between students and NECA member companies. The Atlanta Electrical Contractors Association (AECA) is Georgia's local NECA chapter. In addition to offering support during the Green Energy Challenge, the AECA also offers scholarships, sponsors on-campus events, and connects students with available internships and career opportunities in the electrical industry.

  • Night Owl Racing is a student led competition racing team. We will heavily modify OEM vehicles by designing, fabricating, and testing custom assemblies for racing purposes. Students will apply concepts taught in engineering classes to design components. Students will also develop real world skills as the parts go onto the car and are assembled with inevitable manufacturing imperfections. The main purpose of this organization, however, is to teach engineering students how to design assemblies with a strict budget. 

  • The purpose of the Owl Robotics Competition Team is to promote interest in robotics and STEM-related activities through competitive and friendly competition, participating in VEX Robotics and Combat Robotics competitions every academic year, increase public awareness of ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, and assist ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ students in getting involved on and off campus.

  • The Robotics and Automation Society at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ fosters the development and facilitates the discussion of scientific and technological knowledge in Robotics and Automation that benefits our students at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. The RAS Society is a brand of IEEE that strives for the advancement of the theory and practice of robotics and automation for the maintenance of high professional/educational standards among its members, which aligned with the Constitution and Bylaws of the Kennesaw State and IEEE, with special attention to such aims within the Field of Interest of the Society.

  • The team is committed to the development of solar vehicles while creating opportunities for its members to improve their technical, design, and leadership skills.

  • The purpose of this organization is to participate every year in the regional Southeastern Conference American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) competition. This organization allows the students to apply their knowledge of statics, strengths of materials, structural analysis, and physics, among others. The team also teaches metal fabrication skills, from cutting to welding to grinding steel. Members of the Steel Bridge Team will be involved in the design, manufacturing, construction, and testing of a steel bridge by following specifications from the rules handbook which changes every year.
