For his efforts to strengthen and protect democracy, 成人直播 political science associate professor Eric Castater has been honored with a 2026 Georgia Civic Excellence Award from the Georgia Democracy Resilience Network.

The award recognizes Georgia leaders who demonstrate exemplary community leadership, strengthen their communities, encourage respectful dialogue, and promote the norms of a healthy democratic society.

Castater, who teaches courses in government and politics in the , was awarded for his work in promoting civil political dialogue on the Kennesaw State campus and in the local community.

鈥淚t was deeply humbling to be recognized alongside so many extraordinary people including Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger who are doing such important work,鈥� Castater said.

TheGeorgia Democracy Resilience Network is a cross-partisan initiative supported by The Carter Center that brings together Georgians from across the political spectrum to bridge political divides, encourage constructive dialogue, and promote peaceful civic engagement.

鈥淚 am committed to continuing the work that made me worthy of this award,鈥� Castater said. 鈥淭hat includes exposing students in good faith to different political perspectives, promoting civil dialogue among people with opposing views and judging individuals not by the groups with which they are identified, but by their actions and the content of their character.鈥�

Castater said the recognition also reflects 成人直播鈥檚 commitment to creating an environment where students with different perspectives can engage with and learn from one another.

鈥湷扇酥辈� now has the largest and one of the most diverse undergraduate student populations of any college in Georgia,鈥� he said. 鈥淭his recognition from the Georgia Democracy Resilience Network demonstrates that 成人直播 is committed to respecting differences among students and nurturing dialogue and understanding among those who passionately disagree.鈥�

At 成人直播, Castater teaches courses on American government, international political economy, international law and organizations, and European Union politics. His research focuses on labor politics and the rise of populist and radical political parties in the wealthy democracies.

Ramazan Kilinc, director and professor of political science at 成人直播鈥檚 , said Castater's recognition reflects a core part of the school鈥檚 mission.
